When you make a decision, do you take a stand, go in a good direction? Fr. Soney talks about the young rich man in Mark’s Gospel who kept all the commandments. He comes to Jesus and says “Good Master, what should I do to gain eternal life.” Jesus looked at him and loved him. He said to the young man, sell what you have, give to the poor and come follow me. This was a difficult choice for him. He was not able to do it.

Perhaps at times in our lives, we, too, face difficult choices. Looking at this story we see that Jesus focuses on the young man’s weakness. He indicates that moral perfection is not enough. We must become partners with God in building the Kingdom. We are asked to share what we have and give of ourselves.
