The common perception is that anger is wrong. It is always negative, implies conflict, etc. But Old Testament Scriptures show God as angry. In the New Testament there are examples of Jesus being angry. Fr. Padovani stresses that we need to be comfortable with our anger and express it appropriately at the right time. Healthy anger is part of the positive side of intimacy. He admits that this is easy to say, but difficult to live out. Depression is really repressed anger, pushed down. Sometimes we will find that there is just a misunderstanding that can be cleared up. Anger demands a great deal of honesty. Fr. Padovani gives examples and shows what problems can arise if we don’t deal with anger.
