Fr. Mike says that he is often bombarded by people with the question “Why do Catholics call their priests ‘Father’ when scripture says “Call no man Father.”
Dr. Ruth is bothered by that same question. So they explore this together. The bible also says “Call no man Rabbi or Teacher.” So in order
to get the balanced view that Jesus intended, Fr. Mike goes to St. Paul when he says “I am a spiritual father to you.”
They then discuss briefly the three vows that religious men and women take when entering a congregation in the Catholic Church.
In the second half of this program, Fr. Mike and Dr. Ruth discuss what each means by the Body of Christ.
Fr. Mike ends by offering three concrete steps Protestant and Catholics can do to work with each other.
