In the fourth of this series about the differences and unity of Protestant and Catholic religions, Fr. Mike and Dr. Ruth discuss Jesus and the Church. They agree that sometimes people place more emphasis on the ceremonies or obligations of the church than on one’s relationship with Jesus. Being a Christian is primarily accepting Jesus as our savior. Nonetheless, there is a place for the Church. They then talk about the Lord’s supper and the different beliefs between Protestants and Catholics on this important topic. Fr. Mike explains why there are some restrictions in the Catholic Church about who can receive the Eucharist. He also explains Transubstantiation and what Catholics believe about it. Dr. Ruth and Fr. Mike agree that the body of Christ is in the community as well as in the Eucharist.
