War…famine…tragedy…as followers of Jesus, we are called to be right in the middle of it all. Dan O’Neill shows us how.
In this interview by Fr. Mike, Dan talks about being born into a family of missionaries. He lived in a Jewish kibbutz in 1973 during the Yom Kippur War. This led him to begin Mercy Corps in 1979 to help make the world a better place.
Mercy Corps has about 5,000 staff in 45 countries, including Central America, Turkey, Greece, East Africa, Syria…..To effect real change, they use local leadership and local tools to address the needs of the area.
Dan talks about the stress of working in such challenging places and the need for balance and prayer to help sustain them.
At the end, Fr. Mike asks Dan to give a few practical suggestions of how we can help.
