Judging Justice

Sometimes what we know is right in our hearts, what our conscience tells us, is not always what the law states.
In this interview, Fr. Mike and Cynthia Ludvigsen discuss her role as a judge and the challenges she faces every day. Cynthia states that a judge has a solitary life. It is difficult to discuss cases outside the courtroom.  She finds that in listening to the story there are sometimes more than two sides.  Her decisions affect people’s lives and so she wants to do the very best she can. She prays each day before going to work.
She talks about why she became a judge and how she works to judge the actions of the person and not the person.  They discuss the main reasons behind family problems.
The interview ends with an interesting discussion about the tension between  justice and mercy.
