Catholic Insights VII

In this seventh of the series entitled Catholic Insights, Fr. Mike and Dr. Ruth discuss celibacy for Catholic Priests. Dr. Ruth stated that there is not scriptural basis for it.  Fr. Mike refers to the fact that Jesus wasn’t married and the sections in Paul’s letters that substantiate this. Fr. Mike stresses that celibacy is a call from God, a gift that not all can accept. But the Church honors that gift.
They also discuss the fact that priests from other denomination s who convert to Catholicism are sometimes allowed to function as a married priest.
Other topics include the Catholic Church’s stand on married priests and those who decide to leave the priesthood to become married.
They then turn to married life and discuss divorce, marriage between those of different faiths and annulment within the Catholic Church.
